What's on my desk right now?

Little containers of office supplies decorated with random toys picked up off the living room floor, like a blue Duplo and a thumb-sized X-wing fighter. Pens, pencils, dry erase markers, paper clips, tacs, glue sticks, toddler scissors, tiny scraps of colored construction paper, rainbow yarn. My laptop. Two spiral notebooks labeled MANY BOTHANS DIED and WRITING NOTES, GENERAL. Receipts from McDonald’s. Saved grocery store coupons. A Boba Fett helmet Bluetooth speaker. Above the desk on display is a collection of preschool art and a dry erase board with “Shit needing to get done” including new car breaks, schedule appointments, collect tax documents, and eat this chocolate it is old (points to box of Queen Anne candies). Post it note reading: research Star Wars props on ebay.

What can I say, right now it is a constellation the realities and economies of family and creative life. It’s messy, kinda organized, and it’s fucking beautiful. Dear Universe, thank you for my blessings. Off to write more, make theatre, ignore laundry, and play Transformers who visit the Playdoh cafe until it’s time to make mac n cheese for the 8th time this week. I love it. I’m tired. I love it.
